Attending the Sixth Journalism Leaders Forum at The University of Central Lancashire last night has motivated me to start a blog. I hope that my blog will give a different insight on the media industry. This Summer I have work experience at four regional papers (and possibly one national). I will post my observations here.
Back to the Journalism Leaders Forum. You can read their blog here.
Last night presentations from Eamon Carey(Random Thoughts Media), Robin Hamman ( Cybesoc.com) and Nick Jaspan (How-do) left me with two main thoughts. Firstly I became aware just how commoditised communication is. There’s a big difference from reading it a text book to actually hearing entrepreneurs talk candidly about it. Secondly, it seems that technology is enescapably intertwined with this.
In his presentation, Robin stressed how much the traditional media are covering blogs. There is an example of this in The Lancashire Evening Post today. Phil Widdas is a columnist whose blog was published in the letters page. It’s strange to see a blog in print like this. To me it legitamises blogs.
