Motivated journalism students like myself will take on work placements to gain experience. But are newspapers exploting this? The National Union of Journalists tackle the issue of lengthy work experience placements which are unpaid.

Having been to four regional newspapers over the summer I now feel more confident in my third year at university studying newspaper and digital journalism. At no time did I have the same level of work as other journalists, nor was I expected to work at their speed. So I don’t think I was exploited.
