Mark Comeford lectured us on the future of journalism. He has more knowledge than can fit into an hour. He said that mobile phones are the best tools a journalist can have. Mark’s phone has a scanner, a Dictaphone, a camera, a video and a tracking device amongst many mysterious others. My next phone will be just as cool. The surreptitious Dictaphone will be handy
.
Times Media plan to use mobile technology more, too. Their news will be available on mobile phones from October 22. They will give “a high quality and fast browsing experience.” I’m not sure about this. Bite sized news on my phone does not appeal to me.
Maybe Internet phone browsing will kill off text messaging if it is cheaper to send an email. Obviously it will need an obnoxious ring tone alert.
